How Many Pages Should Your Website Have?
Whether you are updating your current website design or starting fresh with a new business you may be wondering how to figure out how many pages your new website should have.
There really isn’t an ideal number of pages for a website since each company and website are unique. No one likes scrolling forever on a page to find what they are looking for. But going to a webpage that doesn’t have much information on it is frustrating as well.
Figure out what pages you need for your website. This may change but it gives you a good starting point for organization. Common pages for small to mid-size businesses include: Home, About, Employees, Products or Services, Pricing and Contact. Many businesses also have a page of frequently asked questions, articles and a blog. Depending on the amount of products and services you offer, you might want each of them to have their own page as well. If you know there is a product or service that is your big seller I recommend that having its own page for SEO purposes. The great thing about the Squarespace websites I design is that it is easy to add pages as a later date. Your website should grow and change with your business.
The footer is hugely important because it’s on the bottom of every page of your website. I always make sure that the footer contains your business’ contact info and map and hours (if applicable) as well as social media links. I treat it like an interactive business card as so many quick questions clients may have can be answered right there.
Spotlight Graphic Design will guide you through the entire website design process, but it is always helpful to let us know what pages you think you want from the beginning of the website design process.
