The Art of Logo Design
Logo design is my favorite part of graphic design. I approach each logo design as a puzzle to be solved. I am a very organized, logical person and also creative and logo design really uses a combination of these traits.
My goal for each design is:
For someone seeing your logo to have an idea about what your business does.
For the design and text to be easy to read and understand.
For it to be memorable.
I start each design project speaking to the client about their business, their preferences and finding out how and where the logo will be primarily used. For example, if it’s going to be on vehicles or billboards I make sure the text is bold since people will be reading quickly. I then research competitors logos to make sure the new logo is different.
Sometimes clients know exactly what they want (or think they want) and sometimes they have no idea. I generally design 3 versions as part of a logo design package to give clients choices and to get to know their taste. Then we discuss what they like and didn’t like and any changes they would like to see to colors, fonts, layouts, etc. Then I make revisions and show them the next round and get their feedback again. It’s a very collaborative process to make sure the client loves the end result.
Since I design 3 concepts for every one that actually gets used, I have designed over 250 logos in the 13 years since I started my business! I continue to learn and try new things to keep my designs bold, unique and modern.
Here are a handful I have designed. You can see more here.
